Helping Christians handle the Bible with confidence

Andrew is an ordained Anglican minister in Melbourne, Australia. He joined the faculty at Ridley College Melbourne in 2018 where he teaches Old Testament, Hermeneutics, Spiritual Formation and Biblical Theology. He is passionate about helping students grow in their confidence handling the whole Bible as God’s message to us.

Prior to moving to Melbourne he worked with students at St Barnabas Broadway and in the residential colleges of Sydney University. In 2017 he followed his wife Stephanie (who is also an Anglican minister) to Melbourne to take up roles at City on a Hill Melbourne, where he served as Community Pastor.

He completed his PhD in biblical hermeneutics at Sydney University, focusing on Hans-Georg Gadamer’s phenomenology of play, Christian interpretation of the Hebrew scriptures, and why smart people seem to keep disagreeing on what the Bible means.

His recent publications include Playing With Scripture: Reading Contested Biblical Texts with Gadamer and Genre Theory (Routledge, 2024) and Modern Genre Theory: An Introduction for Biblical Studies (Zondervan Academic, 2024).
